For some pretty good reasons I've been forced to take a break periodically and reflect on what a great world it is. Lately I've had some pretty heavy situations come at me. You know the saying, "If life gives you lemons....?" Well, my cup is running over with lemonade. I am becoming more and more in awe of all the kindness and beauty in the world. To date, I am the luckiest most fortunate person I know. I have an amazing family. My kids are perfect, even their imperfections are perfect. My mom and sisters are kind, giving, and very funny. My friends? Shoot. The most amazing. I really don't know what I'd do without them. They provide me with so much therapy, kindness, and joy. Nothing is better than a nonjudgmental, supportive shoulder to cry on. I have the greatest job. I can't wait to wake up and go to. I'm so lucky to have the opportunity to meet new people almost everyday. I love meeting new kids and discovering what they love and what motivates them.
Just this week I've been so inspired by other living creatures. There really is kindness and beauty everywhere. The other day there was a bright red cardinal in a tree right in front of me. I felt so lucky to see such an amazing site of the vibrant color against the dull wintery background.
I go to a sick grocery store close to my house because I can go there in my slippers and don't feel totally ghetto. The clientele can be a bit sketchy. The woman who cashed me out looked at me straight in my eyes and asked, "Has anyone told you how wonderful and beautiful you are today?" I thought, no, but you did. She didn't know what kind of a day I was having and her words filled up my bucket. I was inspired by her kindness and can't get her out of my mind.
I love how it feels on my lips to kiss my kids' soft marshmallowy cheeks.
I love it when I see kids I haven't seen in while and their eyes light up as they run to give me a bear hug.
The world can be a pretty depressing, tough place if you let yourself think it is. Take my advice, don't.
